Questions to Ask a Concrete Staining Contractor
Bring your ideas and a few useful questions. Ask about test samples, preparation, sealing, traction and when the space can be used again.

Content updated
Ask the contractor to explain how the existing concrete becomes the proposed finished surface. The most useful answers specify products, preparation, testing, and exclusions.
Condition and preparation
How will old coatings and contamination be identified? What moisture or adhesion evaluation is appropriate? Which cracks and patches are included? Ask what findings would change the proposed system.
Appearance and product selection
Which stain and sealer are specified? Where will the sample be made? How will repairs and different pours look? What traction and cleaning requirements apply to the intended use?
Work and occupancy
How are dust, ventilation, adjacent surfaces, and waste handled? Can rooms be phased? When may people, pets, furniture, and vehicles return? Get the product-specific answers in writing.
Price and follow-up
What is included in the area rate? How are extra preparation and hidden conditions approved? Who handles a callback, and what do product and workmanship terms cover? Compare all proposals with the same scope worksheet.
